The Mullion Group’s Dr Rob Waterworth and Rob de Ligt joined a group of 190 experts at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s First Lead Author Meeting for the 2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Bilbao, Spain from 7-9 June 2017.

This meeting brought the experts together as Lead Authors, to begin work on a new Methodology Report to update the guidelines countries use for estimating greenhouse gas emissions and removals, bringing the guidelines into line with the new requirements of the 2015 Paris Agreement.

The Lead Authors developed a work plan for the draft text for the Refinement ready for the next meeting in September 2017. A busy schedule lies ahead with some interesting and important science to be translated into additional guidelines for the 2019 Refinement. Read more about this meeting here.
