The Mullion Group have been working in partnership with the Canadian Forest Service, the Colombia Institute of Hydrology Meteorology and Silvacarbon to implement the FLINT (Full Lands Integration Tool) software framework in Colombia. We travelled to Victoria, Canada in August 2017 for a workshop on using the FLINT to quantify forest carbon dynamics. The FLINT is open-source software managed by moja global that enables users to utilise remote sensing and ground sampling data to contribute to sustainable land management including estimating emissions and removals of greenhouse gases from the land sector. It is modular, which means it can be adapted to suit the needs of unique local contexts, through adding plug ins to quantify particular carbon models. Following from the workshop the FLINT was successfully piloted in specific areas in Colombia and we are continuing to follow and support this initiative.
